Wal-Mart College Success Awards

This initiative will provide $100,000 grants to 20 competitively selected CIC Institutional Members that are deeply committed to the education of first-generation students. The awards, for use over two years, will help the selected institutions build on demonstrated successes and develop further the enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of first-generation college students. The grant will also support the preparation of a printed volume that is a compendium of “best practices” in recruiting and successfully educating first-generation students.

Funder: Wal-Mart Foundation

Program Status: The College Success Award winners have been selected from a competitive applicant group of more than 200 CIC members. Teams from the award-winning institutions will participate in the Wal-Mart College Success Awards Conference on July 19-21, 2009, in Washington, DC.
